| The 20th Century was the warmest
century in the last 1,000 years and the 1990s was
the warmest decade in the last 100 years.
There is now general agreement that GHG's arising
from human activity are affecting the world's climate,
resulting in changing weather patterns and more frequent
extreme weather events.
Two major and growing sources of GHG's are transportation
and the methane emitted from decomposing biomass in
landfills. Methane has a 23 times greater warming
effect than carbon dioxide.
